TIMBER! Outdoor Music Festival Review

Timber! 2024

Timber! Outdoor Music Festival is an absolute blast and a must-visit event for music lovers! The atmosphere is electric, with diverse performances and enthusiastic crowds. You really don’t want to miss the incredible lineup they showcase every year!

Timber! Outdoor Music Festival, July 2024

Due to life happening, I did not get this review whipped into shape in 2024. However, the Timber! Outdoor Music Festival is a fantastic and unique event, absolutely a must-see, so consider this a “preview” for 2025 and start planning your visit now! They have an excellent and easily navigable website at https://timbermusicfest.com/.

I have been to many festivals as either an attendee or a performer (e.g., as The Pixi or with Super Geek League). Nothing compares to my experience at the 2024 Timber! Outdoor Music Festival hosted by Artist Home. The event not only promotes musicians of various genres and supports local businesses, but it strongly encourages people to get off of social media, get out of the house, and enjoy music surrounded by nature’s beauty.

When I told a friend that I was going to the Timber! Outdoor Music Festival, he claimed that he had never heard of it before. Well, that is exactly why Let’s Talk About The Music was created in the first place: to seek out new venues and experiences and get the word out to as many people as possible. Seriously, start planning your 2025 trip now!

The Host: Artist Home

According to the Timber! website, Artist Home is “an indigenous-owned company that propels, promotes, and produces new and emerging talent in the PNW music community. Over the past ten years, [they] have an unmatched track record of advocating for and elevating musicians, connecting audiences, and curating one-of-a-kind musical experiences.”

Artist Home focuses on providing opportunities for new artists to appear on the same playbill with established acts, creating intimate, community-rich events. They prefer to operate one stage at a time so that each band receives the audience’s complete attention. New listeners get to hear beloved bands while discovering up-and-coming talent.

Allow LTATM to Introduce You to the Timber! Outdoor Music Festival!

Even though my friend had not heard of it before, Timber! is not a new festival—they have actually been around since 2013. For the past eleven years, the event has maintained the same days, times, and venue. The festival expanded fairly quickly, and the hosts increased it from the initial two days to a three-day event in 2015. Only seven bands were invited to perform that first year, but as of 2024, that number had grown to twenty-two; and the current 2025 lineup lists twenty-eight plus two kids-oriented groups. [https://timbermusicfest.com/2024artists/] The atmosphere is the best blend of laid-back and electric, with amazing food offered through local community providers.

As is standard practice, the festival gates will open at 2 pm on Thursday, July 24, which allows attendees to set up camp, enjoy the incredible natural surroundings, and relish some family time before the music starts. The location is in Carnation, Washington, at the confluence of the Snoqualmie and Tolt Rivers in Tolt-MacDonald Park, which contains many amenities for campers. (Note that nearly all of the reserved campsites are sold out for 2025—but not to worry, “first come, first serve” sites are plentiful.)

The extraordinary natural beauty of this location cannot be overstated. To access the Campfire stage (one of two used during the festival) from the main entrance, attendees cross a large wooden footbridge suspended over the Snoqualmie River. Not too many venues can boast that!

Campfire vs. Main Stage: My 2024 Experience

When I arrived that Thursday, the first day of the event, the music started at 5:30 pm on the Campfire stage (across that cool wooden footbridge) and went on until late into the night with five fantastic acts playing almost one-hour sets each. Friday and Saturday offered similar electric performances on the Campfire stage in the morning before moving to the Main stage (near the ground’s entrance) in the afternoon.

The setup was very family-friendly, even providing a child-oriented concert for younger kids at their own stage both mornings to kick things off. Note, however, that Artist Home does not censor any of their Campfire or Main stage performers, as they wish every artist to express themselves fully and freely. It’s recommended that parents preview the artists via streaming platforms if this is a concern.

Workshops

As incredible as the music was, the festival goes on to sponsor lots of different nature activities, such as hiking, yoga, bat watching, and a scavenger hunt, among many, many others. Timber! calls these “adventures” and most of theMoPOPm are open to anyone of any age and completely free. Others, like bat watching, are available through online registration. Plan ahead for 2025, as these registrations go live a couple of months before the festival start date and can fill up fast. I was hoping to catch the bat talk and observation during my 2024 visit, but I sadly missed the registration. I did the scavenger hunt instead and had a total blast.

Sponsors

Many PNW and nationwide sponsors help promote this one-of-a-kind festival. Some are well-known companies, like REI, KEXP, MoPOP , F5, and State Farm, to name just a few; others are local businesses in the Carnation area. Timber! highlights every sponsor on a specific page on their website. (As an aside, I had a great time talking with a popular local artist named Henry. The event presents so many chances to build community and make connections.)

Bands, Sponsors, and Volunteer Applications

Future bands, sponsors, and volunteers can submit applications to the Timber! Outdoor Music Festival through Artist Home. Note that the 2025 schedule is already set and can be accessed on the Timber! webpage listed above. Performers looking ahead to 2026 should be able to submit their music in October 2025. The 2024 bands represented many different genres, from big bands to alternative rock to so much more. I highly recommend checking out the 2024 and 2025 performers via the links provided with this review.

I do have some tips for getting booked at a music event: Prepare a digital press kit, tighten up your live show for maximum impact, and spend some time determining which festivals are the right showcase for your music. After submitting your applications, be sure to follow up in case of any glitches or if additional information is needed.

So get going and plan this unique and incredibly fun event happening July 24-26, 2025. After all, early bird tickets go on sale February 1. Let’s Talk About The Music hopes to see you there!
