LTATM | Lets Talk About The Music
LTATM Radio: A Legacy That Still Echoes
Before LTATM | Let’s Talk About The Music became the multimedia platform it is today—with blogs, podcasts, and YouTube—it started as a simple talk show. That talk show sparked something bigger: the vision to build a radio station powered entirely by independent musicians from around the world. The goal was clear—to create a community-focused radio station that championed indie artists and gave them a global stage.
Where It All Began
The seed was planted when Spreaker encouraged the idea of taking my voice and music passion to the airwaves. From there, my journey led me to Green River College, where I began to explore what running a radio station could truly become. With the support and guidance of the legendary KGRG team, I learned the ropes of broadcasting and how to bring a station to life from scratch.
The Build: One Piece at a Time
For four years, I pieced together LTATM Radio almost entirely on my own. I was the only original staff member with any radio background, but I was driven. With trial, error, and fierce determination, I learned how to build a fully functioning station—from music scheduling with MusicMaster, automation with PlayoutONE, to broadcasting through Live365. Every challenge was a lesson, and every victory felt like a celebration.
The Mentors Who Shaped the Journey
I was fortunate to learn from some of the best:
Tom Even Krause – who helped me understand the art of radio presence.
Jon Kasprick – the mastermind behind station engineering and the heart of KGRG’s innovation.
Ryan Castle (KISW) – who taught me the ins and outs of music scheduling with MusicMaster.
The MusicMaster Team – for their support and guidance in mastering the platform.
Jeffrey MacMillan – whose experience and insight helped me push LTATM Radio to the next level.
Jeff Freedom – my business mentor from SCORE, who helped me see the bigger picture.
Their mentorship helped shape not just the station—but me, as a media professional and storyteller.
Why It Matters
LTATM Radio became the foundation of what Let’s Talk About The Music is today. It taught me how to amplify underrepresented voices, how to connect with indie artists, and how to build something that matters from the ground up.
Where It Stands Now
While the station is currently waiting for the right team to come aboard, it’s far from forgotten—it’s just catching its breath before roaring back to life. The skills I gained, the connections I built, and the passion I uncovered continue to shape the LTATM podcast and talk show today. This chapter remains a proud part of the LTATM legacy—and maybe, just maybe, it’ll hit the airwaves again when the time is right.
Teamwork: The Heart of a Station
Building a functional, successful radio station isn’t a solo act—it takes a well-structured team working in harmony across five essential departments:
General Management (GM)
Program Director (PD)
Human Resources (HR)
Sales & Marketing
IT & Technical Support
Of these, the Program Director plays one of the most critical roles. The PD runs the heartbeat of the station—managing everything from the music scheduler, radio personalities, and podcast lineups, to contest planning, station branding, and beyond. It’s a department that requires both creative vision and logistical precision.
LTATM Radio wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support and encouragement I received along the way—including recommendation letters from individuals who believed in the mission and helped keep it moving forward.
